TEETH WHITENING
Teeth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change
the color of natural tooth enamel to brighten a smile.
What is the process of whitening my teeth?
There are 2 options to choose from.
@Home Whitening Kit – Our dental office will design custom whitening trays for your teeth
and you whiten your teeth from the comfort of your own home. The gel used is an
extra-strength bleach not common in stores.
Dental Office Whitening – Our dental office offers the latest in-office teeth whitening
solutions and is the right choice when you are seeking a timely result without the need to
manage in-home whitening trays.
PORCELAIN VENEERS
Veneers reshape the teeth and overall appearance of your smile. Veneers can be an alternative to crowns and is used to treat many dental conditions.
What is a Veneer?
Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made for the patient. Veneers are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and symmetric smile.
What is the process in a porcelain veneer procedure?
Plan to schedule two appointments to complete this procedure. The teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer. A mold or impression of the teeth is taken and a shade to match your existing tooth color is chosen by you and Dr. Ideus.
At the second appointment, bonding cement is then placed between the tooth and veneer and a special light beam is used to harden and set the bond.
PORCELAIN ONLAYS
A porcelain onlay is a custom-made filling made of composite material, gold, or
tooth-colored porcelain. Dr. Ideus will permanently cement the porcelain onlay
onto the tooth. Onlays are used when there are large defective fillings or due
to decay or trauma.
What is the process of an onlay procedure?
Two appointments are normally scheduled. The first appointment includes taking
an accurate impression that will be used to create a custom onlay.
While the tooth is numb, Dr. Ideus will remove any decay and/or old filling materials.
The space will then be thoroughly cleaned and carefully prepared, shaping the
surface to properly fit an onlay restoration. A temporary filling will be added to
protect the tooth while the onlay is being made. On the second appointment,
the new onlay will be cemented into place.
BONDING
For teeth that have chips, cracks, discoloration, or other minor damage, bonding is used to conceal those imperfections. Bonding creates an aesthetic and natural-looking smile.
